Liberals Cost Yet More Jobs

236 hardworking, productive folks will work their last day tomorrow. The Hawaii Super Ferry; the 350-foot high-speed catamaran which runs (ran) from Honolulu to Maui will make its last round trip on 3/19. Why? Persistent environmental activism has "won" the day.

It seems that big boats that go too fast could (though it has never happened) hit a whale, and invasive species could spread (although those same species could hitch a ride on the 20+ daily airline flights.) Bottom line: Save the Whales.

FYI - the favorable ruling for the environazis is due to the EIS (Environmental Impact Statement) which as been ruled invalid on several loophole counts; like not enough environmental interest groups made money in the making thereof.

With the economy in the pit the liberals pushed it into - it's a pretty bad time to be losing a job. My heart goes out to those who will work their last day tomorrow. Surely the kind-hearted, tolerant, socialist liberals will take care of them, huh? No. As with everything else, the burden will fall on hard-working, tax-paying, charitable conservatives.

On a similar note - a mere 4 thousand miles north of my present local; oil-field service companies are beginning layoffs. According to those Alaskans I correspond with regularly, 'big oil' is beginning to cut back because they are anticipating that under the current administration and congress, 'profit equals loss' in the total scheme of things; if they make a profit, in the end regulations/taxes will take 110% - so they no longer plan on profits. Yet more jobs lost due to socialist-liberal ideology. (Watch for gas prices to begin skyrocketing again by the end of this year - thanks to... socialist liberals.) If you have Exxon stock, sell it. Of course that will add to the market crash (thanks to socialist liberals).

I read about this in our paper yesterday. Totally sucks.

I am so pissed off after watching the news yesterday. Seems the liberals made sure in a late night, closed door session (Pelosi & Reid) that there was language in the stimulus bill that protected AIG bonuses. No one had time to read the bill. Now they're coming after AIG with a vengeance. They are now using this to push their socialist agenda.... Go after legal and binding contracts because they are unpopular.

It was actually Chris (loud mouth) Dodd who slipped that little gem into the bill on "orders" from the WH. So he says. He first denied it, but after the story hit the news, he did a 360. As for yo president, Obomber said he don't know nothin bout it, and was off to Mexifornia to make sure the Kool-Aid isn't running out.

And Jimbo, the EnviroNazi's are just getting started. Before they're done, we'll all be living the Amish lifestyle!

Jimbo, What do they propose to do with these multi-million dollar ferries now?

And Spidey, Of course Dodd did. He accepted $250,000 in campaign contributions from AIG. More than anyone. Everyone that received campaign contributions (3/4 of them were democrats) should return the money!

LOL!! Lots-a-luck on that idea! It would be an historic first and probably a violation of congressional rules.

I'd bet some "people movers" in Mexico would love to buy those ferries.

I feel for those folks. But what about the money already spent by Hawaii and the Transportation Dept of the gub'ment? It's MILLIONS of dollars, again, spent by one gub'ment agency, forced to be wasted by a different gub'ment agency. Is it me, or isn't tht like stomping on your left foot, with our own right foot while wearing baseball cleats? It's painful and wasteful.

As to the elected worms and AIG. The real reason that they are so intent on bitching about this $165 mil, is so very few people find out that almost half of the money went to countries overseas. Yep OUR tax money for OUR country's economy via the AIG bailout went overseas. It's smoke and mirrors time on those bonuses.

Here's the hiding magician

It's not worth complaining about anyway. The "huge" bonuses are less than 1/10 of 1% of the money AIG got, and the info was public long before The Drop. This is akin to you loaning me $100 for, say, buying a new door, and being ticked because I spent a nickel of it on gum.

No one in CONgress complained until the "chattering class" got upset - and then they hopped on the bandwagon. Governing by the poles again. If they hadn't been in such an all-fired hurry to get the bills passed, they could have put something in prohibiting bonuses or high salaries or something. After-the-fact legislation just doesn't cut it - and probably isn't legal (not that they care about that). Another diversion tactic is what it's really about.

If this keeps up, I just may start getting cynical.

...but it is selective "Poll Governing"

I remember there being a whole lot of negative input on the stimulus bill and porkulus bill - both of which got passed.

Hypocrisy thy names are Senate, House and President.

This is simply further evidence of how totally powerless the people really are. You can bitch and moan all you want, but the lying crooks in DC will still do exactly as they please. They apparently realize that there's no limit to the amount of abuse and insult the American people will tolerate.

Bug - they are looking for "other assigments" for the Alakai. I bet you rent her for a weekend. :-)

Hey - maybe if all of us Annie-ites pitched in...

Na. Fuel for a day would probably pay off my mortgage. :-(

But then... Isn't the Big Oh! going to pay my mortgage? :-)

Sorry Jimbo, but if you were responsible and live within your means you are a "producer" and therefor must be punished and provide for the ignorant masses that didn't.

You know, that "redistribution" deal.

How did comrade Marx put it?

Take from the few to give to the many... or something like that.

Those of us who produce are in for a rough ride in the ObamaError that we find ourselves in.

And Neal Boartz (not sure how to spell his name exactly) said something along the lines of...

"all of you people that hate the rich should go ask a poor person for a job".

God, save us from the voters.
