Letter to the IRS

Dear IRS,
I'm sorry to inform you that I'm not going to be able to pay the taxes owed on April 15th, but all is not lost. I paid these taxes, accounts receivable tax, building permit tax, CDL tax, corporate income tax, dog license tax, federal income tax, unemployment tax, gas tax, hunting license tax, fishing license tax, waterfowl stamp tax, inheritance tax, inventory tax, liquor tax, luxury tax, Medicare tax, city tax, school and county property tax up to 33% the last four years. Real estate tax, Social Security tax, road use tax, toll road tax, state and city sales tax, recreational vehicle tax, sales franchise tax, state unemployment tax, federal excise tax, telephone tax, telephone federal state and local surcharge tax, telephone minimum usage surcharge tax, telephone state and local tax, utility tax, vehicle tax, registration tax, capital gains tax, lease severance tax, oil and gas assessment tax, Colorado property tax, Texas, Colorado, Wyoming, Oklahoma, Mexico sales tax and many more I can't recall and I've run out of space and money. When you do not receive my check April 15th, just know that it was an honest mistake. Please treat me the same as the way you've treated Congressman Charlie Rangel, Chris Dodd, Barney Frank, ex-congressman Tom Daschle and, of course, your boss, Timothy Geithner. No penalties, no interest.
PS, I'll make at least a partial payment as soon as I get my stimulus check.
Ed Barnett, Wichita Falls.

God bless you, Ed. I mean, you're going to jail, but God bless you. The only reason why you're going to jail is because you don't control anything anymore. They control you. They don't answer to anybody. You answer to them. - Glenn Beck

April 15 is bearing down upon us. This letter is a nice thought but it seems we have 3 choices: Bend Over because Here It Comes Again, go to jail, or quit being a contributing member to society... And it will only get worse.

Attn: IRS

Enclosed is my 2009 tax return & payment.

Please take note of the attached article from the USA Today newspaper. In the article, you will see the Pentagon is paying $171.50 for hammers and NASA has paid $600.00 for a toilet seat.

Please find enclosed four toilet seats (value $2400) and six hammers (value $1029). This brings my total payment to $3429.00.

Please note the overpayment of $22.00 and apply it to the “Presidential Election Fund,” as noted on my return. Might I suggest you the send the above mentioned fund a 1.5 inch screw.” (See attached article...HUD paid $22.00 for a 1.5 inch phillips head screw.)

It has been a pleasure to pay my tax bill this year, and I look forward to paying it again next year.

Sincerely,

A satisfied taxpayer

Question: What can/will they do if no one pays?

Yes, everything should be free. A first rate country runs on air.

Pay your bills, deadbeats. You use the goods & services, now pay up.

Life isn't free. Living in America isn't free.

Don't forget, Harry Reid says taxes are voluntary:

Link also has a video

you miss the point there HLF (imagine my surprise)
if the high muckety mucks of the Obama administration can fail to pay their taxes and not get penalized, i want the same treatment

or are you on of those who believe that Obama & his staff get free passes on taxes because they are popular with the illegal immigrants?

Unless you're too lazy, too stupid or too brown to work. Or unless you're too white and a member of Congress. Which leads us to precisely how a half-brown kid with NO work history became YOUR leader. He's perfect from a liberal view point. If he fails it will be MY fault for not supporting him. And if he succeeds it will be because of YOU having given him the chance. You're mental!!

TANSTAAFL back at you HLT. That's been our fucking point here all the GD time you've been around, and WAY before. You can't make it rain, by pouring water into a bottomless well. It is a CONSERVATIVE precept to CONSERVE. Frugality is that same thinking.

And don't throw GWB at me, we screamed this stuff at him for 8 GD years too!!! He'll be a a conservative when I get tall, thin and in the NBA! He was no example of what we wanted as conservatives and the longer he was in the WH the further he got from the reservation.

I paid $56,000 in Fed/State taxes last year HLF.

How much did you pay? How do you rate in the general scheme of things? I bet you use just as much "government stuff" as I do - probably MORE! I think you should have to pay as much as I do.

You are a freeloading jerk-off.

Oh and HLT, I don't take a fucking thing from the Gub'ment, I work for everything I have and do not take ANY handouts. But it seems they have no problems taking from me, you arrogant bastard.

I'm just not certain the last few comments from HLF, on this post and others, is really our troll HLF.

No vitriol or name calling.

I noticed the question wasn't answered, so i'll ask it. What would/could the government do if no one paid their taxes? Would they arrest the entire country? General strikes (refusal to accept a situation) have been a popular and very effective tool used by the people of many countries.

What would price-gouging utilities do if no one paid their bill? What happens to a product that becomes too expensive and people stop buying it? You can last a lot longer without their products or services than they can last with zero cash flow.

If the American people weren't handicapped by weakness and stupidity, they would realize how much power they truly have. Remember, the Trillions that are being given/thrown away to everybody and anybody with their hand out, is our money! They can't waste it if we don't give it to them. Who knows. We might even go back to the days when the govt. worked for us. Talk about change!
