Is This The Reality?

RUSSIAN ANALYST PREDICTS DECLINE AND BREAKUP OF USA
Tue Nov 25 2008 09:04:22 ET

A leading Russian political analyst has said the economic turmoil in the United States has confirmed his long-held view that the country is heading for collapse, and will divide into separate parts. Professor Igor Panarin said in an interview with the respected daily IZVESTIA published on Monday: "The dollar is not secured by anything. The country's foreign debt has grown like an avalanche, even though in the early 1980s there was no debt. By 1998, when I first made my prediction, it had exceeded $2 trillion. Now it is more than 11 trillion. This is a pyramid that can only collapse."

The paper said Panarin's dire predictions for the U.S. economy, initially made at an international conference in Australia 10 years ago at a time when the economy appeared strong, have been given more credence by this year's events. When asked when the U.S. economy would collapse, Panarin said: "It is already collapsing. Due to the financial crisis, three of the largest and oldest five banks on Wall Street have already ceased to exist, and two are barely surviving. Their losses are the biggest in history. Now what we will see is a change in the regulatory system on a global financial scale: America will no longer be the world's financial regulator." When asked who would replace the U.S. in regulating world markets, he said: "Two countries could assume this role: China, with its vast reserves, and Russia, which could play the role of a regulator in Eurasia."

Asked why he expected the U.S. to break up into separate parts, he said: "A whole range of reasons. Firstly, the financial problems in the U.S. will get worse. Millions of citizens there have lost their savings. Prices and unemployment are on the rise. General Motors and Ford are on the verge of collapse, and this means that whole cities will be left without work. Governors are already insistently demanding money from the federal center. Dissatisfaction is growing, and at the moment it is only being held back by the elections and the hope that Obama can work miracles. But by spring, it will be clear that he can not."

He also cited the "vulnerable political setup", "lack of unified national laws", and "divisions among the elite, which have become clear in these crisis conditions." He predicted that the U.S. will break up into six parts - the Pacific coast, with its growing Chinese population; the South, with its Hispanics; Texas, where independence movements are on the rise; the Atlantic coast, with its distinct and separate mentality; five of the poorer central states with their large Native American populations; and the northern states, where the influence from Canada is strong. He even suggested that "we could claim Alaska - it was only granted on lease, after all." Panarin, 60, is a professor at the Diplomatic Academy of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and has authored several books on information warfare...

Nations and empires have a life span just as any living thing. Igor Panarin is correct about the huge national debt and the sad fact that our fiat money is worthless. Will these factors cause the breakup of the US? Possibly. Stay tuned for details as they emerge.

This would certainly dovetail with the prophecy concerning the last days. The United States is not mentioned as a world power.

Well, if Obama has anything to do about it it might be...............

BP,
the U.S. is not mentioned AT ALL in Revelation. Major or minor role, supporting player or understudy, we don't get a jot or tittle.

Then again, most of Europe isn't mentioned either.

In the wild, a predators instincts to attack are triggered by any sign of weakness. It's not (IMO) far-fetched at all to think that with all the enemies we have, at least one or two of them could be thinking the same way.

A friend just sent this to me. Although it didn't shock me, (since i don't have much faith in the intelligence of most of my fellow Americans anyway) it is scary! It gives a clear picture as to how (and why) the election ended the way it did. There are also those who see this as a perfect example of why the so-called freedom of the press needs to be seriously curtailed, since it's gone way beyond what the Founders had originally intended.

I have been advocating for the splitting up of the Disunited States since the early 90s. Yes, I know it looks nice and all to have a contiguous country running from coast to coast but it makes little sense otherwise.

Let's face it. We are too big and too divided. Let the conservatives have their half and we'll take ours. Doesn't have to be connected either.

The only problem is that the con half will kill each other over who has to pay the bill to keep the lights on. Even if they get past that they'll use up their resources in about a year and all die off. I can only imagine the pandemonium of them trying to parse out their little individual spots and making sure that any money they spend is only benefiting the individual so that not a penny is shared. Like a huge land mass of 2-year-olds who never made it past that annoying period of toddlerhood where everything they see they scream, "MINE!"

I think you may be on to something, but... No one will work or defend the country. Everyone will be a gov't employee, meaning no show jobs. They will be bankrupt without and starve w/o the cheese. I think the left half will be invaded by Jamaica as the only country lazier than itself. Then will ask the right for foreign aid.

"Anyone could come along and take the gun away from him, his wife for example," Said the German authorities after relieving a citizen of his firearm permit for keeping a revolver under his pillow.

Of course the guy threatened to 'throw a hand granade' at city council - which prompted the search of his home - but the response of the authorities is a little telling of German wives, (and German's respect for women) is it not?

Back to the story at hand:

To further SRK's point, Freak; your side will starve. You don't know how to feed yourselves, protect yourselves, or keep your infrastructure intact. I would give a new Conservative state 200 years. I'd give a new liberal state 10. Hell - you'd sell yourselves to Hugo Chavez for a winter's worth of heating oil and be flying the Venezualan flag in 3 years - if you all don't die of aids or drug overdoses first.

Really Jimbo?

Here in the Pacific Northwest even the farmers are liberals. The liberal parts of the country have the best minds, the most money and the highest standard of living even AFTER living under 30 years of destructive conservative rule.

We understand that a society functions best through cooperation, not just competition that duplicates efforts and constrains information sharing, killing innovation and progress.

We don't mind kicking in to build a better society that moves ALL people forward and don't spend all of our waking hours trying to game the system and avoid paying for the services we use.

Anonymous said...

And 200 years? We just left a 30 year period of conservative dominance and we're teetering on the brink of collapse! Another few years and we'd all have been living in caves.

As it is, the jury is out on whether we'll survive this republican-inspired mess.

"only benefiting the individual so that not a penny is shared."...Wishful thinking, witness uber-capitalists such as Bill Gates and Warren Buffett giving away billions of dollars of their own money.

"Like a huge land mass of 2-year-olds who never made it past that annoying period of toddlerhood where everything they see they scream, "MINE!"...The liberal forte: descend as quickly as possible into name-calling when you run out of facts to support your argument.

Warren Buffet is a liberal. Most "uber"rich are liberal. They reached a point where their wealth surpassed their selfishness and greed.

But really, 99.9999% of us aren't Warren or Bill.

Another topic: yes, republican and conservative are synonymous to me. Yes I know there are distinctions but that's like discerning between the toxicity of poisons. They're all bad.

As for the broke states: they'll survive long after the southern con states are dust. We liberals have higer standards. Conservative states are like third world sh*tholes and no one seems to mind. That's why so many want to live in the liberal places.

Observing the selfish nature of the conservative and making the connection to a toddler is not name-calling. Reminds me of the joke:

A liberal sees a glass of water and sees it half empty. A conservative sees the same glass and says, "HEY! WHO DRANK HALF MY WATER?"

Precisely why conservative states will make it when the sh*t hits the fan. Your "higher standards" (which you can't even spell correctly) are what will cause you to starve. There won't be any caviar or escargot available. I'll take my good 'ole conservative town and my good 'ole conservative state anytime. Answer: The Iraq terrorist makes fewer demands.

"Another topic: yes, republican and conservative are synonymous to me. Yes I know there are distinctions but that's like discerning between the toxicity of poisons. They're all bad."

As are the differneces between liberalism and Marxism.

"Warren Buffet is a liberal. Most "uber"rich are liberal. They reached a point where their wealth surpassed their selfishness and greed."

Warren Buffett is a liberal only in the social context of the word and that he is willing to share his wealth with the Gates Foundation. To suggest that Buffett and Gates are closer to the ideals of George Soros than they are to those of Cornelius Vanderbilt and Jay Gould is ridiculous.

"The liberal parts of the country have the best minds..."

Such as Jimmy Carter, Tom [never had a real job] Hayden, Willie Brown, Jim Wright, Donna [the inventor of political correctness] Shalala, Sheldon Hackney, Jesse Jackson, Al Sharpton, ad infinitum, ad nauseum...

Freak -
Explain Detroit.

And if you think having morals and having the instincts to feed my family before I feed a bunch of Detroit-type leaches is "wrong" and "selfish", then you can go back to your momma's basement and slap your monkey a while longer.

That's why you are a dipshit and are destined for starvation, slavery, or both.

And before you accuse me of "name calling" (falling to your level) let me say "dipshit" is not name calling - it's simply what you are. No different than calling a horse a horse or a pig a pig. You see, a 'dipshit' is someone who put's his teeny little penis in another male’s anus and gets it covered with feces. Then when that same individual gets very sick, he blames conservatives for having morals and taking care of his family rather than giving all they’ve earned to cure the disease you purposefully inflicted on yourself. And if we don’t you call us “mean and selfish and bad and dangerous”. Fuck you.

Go swallow a mouthful, dipshit – and don’t come crying to the “haves” because you purposely “have not”. You ‘have not’ by choice. I live with my choices and don’t expect anyone to bail me out. I understand “responsibility” which is outside the liberal world-think. The liberal mantra: give-me-yours, give-me-yours, give-me-yours, give-me-yours, give-me-yours. Get off your worthless lazy ass and earn it.

You are a worthless dipshit leach. Come and take my guns. I dare you. And don’t send someone else to do the work you want done. Be a man. YOU come and get them.

We're not in a bar, you can't bully me through the internet. All you're doing is reinforcing the stereotype of the conservative who can't think his way out of a jam so resorts to violence. Like I said before, your kind makes up the domestic terror base. You illustrate that well.

I love how Detroit is now the conservative whipping boy. In order to try and find some non sequiter (spelling?) of logic "you people" have seized on the cities as some werid proof of liberal failure forgetting that cities don't make policy and are at the mercy of all the bad policies created by conservatives over the years. Many of those policies were designed to punish the cities. Reagan cut aid to the cities greatly.

Meanwhile, we have a meltdown of epic proportions brought on by 30 (THIRTY) YEARS of bad, free-market, deregulatory, greed-infused, conservative economic policy.

See Jimbo, that's why your guys LOST IT ALL in the last TWO ELECTIONS. People are SICK of your kind with your overbearing senses of entitlement, your fake self-reliance and your ME ME ME attitude while you take everything you can from the government. You just don't like PAYING For the things you use.

Stinkinrotten,

The downfall already happened and we have conservatism to thank.

I posted this somewhere else. Thought I'd share.
------------
I gotta hand it to you people. Ya got hutzpah to be predicting an Obama train wreck when we're in the midst of an economic meltdown brought on by decades of republican rule. It's like you people fell asleep in 1980 and woke up yesterday.

Here, let me fill you in. Starting around 1980, the republicans took control in what is now known as "the conservative revolution". They set about cutting taxes (for the rich) and spending like fools, taking us from being the biggest creditor to the biggest debtor nation. Then they took total control and doubled the debt in only 8 years, started a couple expensive wars and generally failed miserably.

Throughout the entire 30 years they promoted a culture of greed, debt and shallow, grubby materialism. You know, how you all live. "You can have it all" was their rallying cry. Just charge it like the republican government did! The people responded accordingly because they all wanted to be just like the rich whose lives were oh-so-much-better what with their McMansions, BMW SUVs, granite countertops and enormous TeeVees!

In that same 30 years the republicans deregulated the financial markets allowing the creation of exotic financial instruments, turning Wall Street into Vegas! Their motto became "get as much as you can, all that you can and don't give a second thought to the legality or ethics of how you did it".

Now we're seeing the result. And just how much has it cost us already? Well here, this should give you some perspective. I found this today.

If we add in the Citi bailout, the total cost of the bailout now exceeds $4.6165 trillion dollars.

People have a hard time conceptualizing very large numbers, so let’s give this some context. The current Credit Crisis bailout is now the largest outlay In American history.

Crunching the inflation adjusted numbers, we find the bailout has cost more than all of these big budget government expenditures – combined:

• Marshall Plan: Cost: $12.7 billion, Inflation Adjusted Cost: $115.3 billion
• Louisiana Purchase: Cost: $15 million, Inflation Adjusted Cost: $217 billion
• Race to the Moon: Cost: $36.4 billion, Inflation Adjusted Cost: $237 billion
• S&L Crisis: Cost: $153 billion, Inflation Adjusted Cost: $256 billion
• Korean War: Cost: $54 billion, Inflation Adjusted Cost: $454 billion
• The New Deal: Cost: $32 billion (Est), Inflation Adjusted Cost: $500 billion (Est)
• Invasion of Iraq: Cost: $551b, Inflation Adjusted Cost: $597 billion
• Vietnam War: Cost: $111 billion, Inflation Adjusted Cost: $698 billion
• NASA: Cost: $416.7 billion, Inflation Adjusted Cost: $851.2 billion

TOTAL: $3.92 trillion

Yes, folks, the republicans who bragged for decades about how this was a conservative country and that they controlled it all, destroyed the country. Oh sure, they'll try and weasel out of it, spinning wildly to blame Barney Frank or some shit. But the smart people (read "not the republicans") know who did it.

Now if I was Obama, I would start Jan 21st with a campaign of demonizing republicans, whipping the people into a vindictive frenzy of hate against anything and everything conservative.

Alas, I probably won't get that. But seeing this country brought to its KNEES for voting republican over my lifetime is well worth it as a consolation prize. Just knowing that republicans will be suffering, that their children face a dim future of rising poverty and South American-style society is enough to make me giddy with joy. If this economic debacle rips the country to pieces it's simply icing on the cake.

"In that same 30 years the republicans deregulated the financial markets allowing the creation of exotic financial instruments."

They're not at all exotic; in fact mortgage backed securities, asset-backed securities, colateralized mortgage obligations and credit default swaps are very simple to understand. They all relate to lending to consumers who are less than credit-worthy and insuring against the eventuality that the borrowers will default. A great deal of this mess began in 1999 when the Clinton administration began to pressure FNMA to ease credit requirement on loans it was willing to purchase. This allowed FNMA to make loans to less credit-worth borrowers at interest rates much higher than the market rates.

AP IMPACT: Mortgage firm arranged stealth campaign

Not that it would have mattered. Less than 20% of bad loans had anything to do with F&F. F&F got involved in the mess because they were losing so much "business" to the shysters, most of whom were no doubt republicans out to make a quick buck and skate. but in conservatismland, any way you make a buck is cool as long as you don't get caught, right?

You know, most of the defaults and sob stories I saw in the past few years were about people in the middle and upper middle class who thought they needed to be like the top 1%. Overly large, luxurious, gauche lifestyles of the stupid and republican. "Look at me in my fabulous mansion with the great rooms, media rooms, granite counter tops, cherrywood cabinetry, and 4-car Hummer garage complete with boats and a jet ski for each of the kids! Wow, HLF...

You are very accomplished at using Google to find articles that support your wrong-headed point of view. The NY Times? Slate? That would be humorous were it not so pathetic. Are you saying that the Clinton administration did not direct Fannie and Freddie to loosen credit requirements?

"Not that it would have mattered. Less than 20% of bad loans had anything to do with F&F."

Right, Fannie and Freddie "only" guaranteed approximately $5 trillion in mortgage debt, 70% of which they packaged and sold to investors. The fraction of outstanding home mortgage debt that was either held or guaranteed by the Fannie and Freddie [known as their "total book of business] rose from 6% in 1971 to 51% in 2003. Their book of business relative to annual GDP went from 1.6% to 33%.

Your impuning my ability to interpret and understand financial data is laughable. I have created via my investment advice more wealth for my clients [mostly greedy capitalist pigs who oppress the poor and downtrodden] than you can comprehend.

Your only credible link, that to the Washington Post (I guess that liberal paper is ok) says nothing about democrats being solely responsible or that anything was done for any reason othe than to increase home ownership for the underserved.

Fannie & Freddie were symptoms, not the cause. The cause was greedy financial "geniuses" on Wall Street. People just like you that thought they could spin wealth from deceit. Sure, it works for a while but then the pyramid collapses.

As for the wealth you created for clients and how it somehow makes you an expert: I wonder how the wealth is doing now? If you were that good You wouldn't have had to wait until you were 64 to retire.

Remember this: Your ideology is under extreme stress due to the impending collapse. Your kind are like dinosaurs who didn't get informed that the meteor already hit. You'll just keep munching your plant leaves and believe that it's all going to be fine and go your way.
