The Poor Little Darlings

Um,...... isn't segregation illegal? Apparently realizing the country's going to take a sharp turn to the Left, the wackos are starting to come out of the woodwork to launch their pet projects. I guess the next thing is to issue each child their own personal bubble, which will of course be covered by universal health care. (a.k.a. socialized medicine) BTW, normal, White, Christian kids need not apply, cause you ain't gonna get in!

Gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender, and "questioning" ? WTF!

This is perfect, because LGBT people NEVER bully anyone. They are quiet, contemplative folks who would never riot or scream or knock a cross out of an old woman's hands.

The dont invade a church and throw condoms around while making out at the pulpit, hanging crude banners, and screaming profanity either.

"They find it to be a place where they can be themselves," Owen said. "It's a safe place."

A safe place to do what they want in the boys room?

The only way to assure a "bully free zone" is to pack heat.

For instance my house, and anywhere I drive in my truck is a bully free zone.

I don't have a strong feeling about homosexuality one way or the other; in fact Jack and I can go lierally months or even years without the subject ever arising in our conversations. That said, I have had quite enough, thank you of groups such as the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence in the SF bay area and Act Up! throwing their sexual orientation in my face. I do not drag my heterosexuality up in anyone's face; so why should they drag their homosexuality up in mine?

On another, related note, Jack and I attended a same sex wedding [two women] in Laguna Niguel in August. These women are our friends and had gone on vacation with us to Maui several years back. They did not drag their sexual orientation into the conversations with us, nor did we drag ours into conversations with them. I am extremely ambivalent about the issue of homosexuality and have a hard time getting worked up about it. By the same token, I am grateful that I do not live the typical "gay lifestyle." I once sat on the board of an organization that provided services to people with AIDS. The vast majority of our clients were either homosexual, IV drug usrs or both. I had a chance to witness the homosexual lifestyle up close and personal. It is a lifestyle centered around bars, drinking, drug [particularly methamphetamine] use, and promiscuous, sometimes anonyomus sex. It is an empty, non-functional style of life that seems to be devoid of any joy.

Annie,
I'm with you on the matter. I don't care to know, or want to hear, about anyone else's sex life. Until it becomes the deciding factor in hiring, firing, housing or any other public forum, I just don't care.

It's when it crosses that public line that I get riled up. I've never quite been able to figure out how your sexual preferences or acts is a basis for a job, or a loan, or medical care.

I believe most of us feel the same way as Annie and Steve do, meaning let people live their own lives. But for the majority of gays, especially the younger more politically radical ones, that's not good enough. What they want of course, is to be "officially" designated as a special class, with special rights and privileges not enjoyed by everyone else. And that's where they lose me.

We know from past experience how adept they've been at using the courts (and always in the Peoples Republic of Mexifornia) to bypass the will of the people and get what they want. Their behavior after losing Prop-8 is a perfect example of what happens when they don't get what they want. But knowing where this country's going in the next four years, i'm sure they're very optimistic. They know this is their best chance to get everything they want, and then some.

BTW Steve, it's not LGBT any more. Apparently, it's now LGBT & Q!

What's the Q stand for?

"The Pride Campus mission statement to serve "the underserved population of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, and Questioning youth and their allies" has been replaced by one that offers protections for students regardless of "orientation," but doesn't mention sexuality."

Perhaps they're questioning what color shoes goes with what color nail polish.
