"The justices took the case under advisement and didn't say when they might rule, but their many questions suggested they were skeptical of Franken's arguments."

Skeptical of someone attempting to bypass an ongoing legal action to have them declared the winner of the aforementioned action? Why ever would they be skeptical?

Al is grasping at straws.

Next, Franken plans to call the commissioner of MLB, Bud Selig and have himself declared the 2009 World Series winner. He was thinking of calling Churchill Downs about the Kentucky Derby, but he found out they only take 3 y/o Thoroughbred horses, 56 y/o jackasses need not apply.

Isn't this EXACTLY what the accused Bush of doing? Two wrongs makes right if you get to go second? What, is he 7, is this a school yard?

But attorneys for Coleman and the state countered that state law clearly says the governor and secretary of state can't issue a certificate of election until all court challenges are resolved. And they said that contrary to the Franken camp's claims, there's no legal deadline for that.

The governor's a Republican and the attorney general's a Democrat. They agree that a certificate of election can't be issued until all court challenges have been resolved. Coleman's case remains active in the courts. What's the problem with that?

Justice Christopher Dietzen questioned whether the Supreme Court had the authority to order Pawlenty and Ritchie to issue a certificate. Justice Paul Anderson said he didn't see how the procedures the state is following undercut the Senate's independent authority under the Constitution to decide who it will seat.

Exactly!

Franken lawyer Marc Elias told the court Thursday that citizens are being deprived of their right to have two senators as Congress decides critical questions. He suggested that Minnesota was obligated under the Constitution and federal statutes to have two senators in place when Congress convened early last month.

Although the feds seem to have forgotten it, the 10th amendment still says that the states or the people have the right to conduct their own business as they see fit.

Laws? Liberals don't need no stinking laws. Since when does "the law" mean anything to a liberal?

Just like the Ten Commandments or the Constitution - "the law" (especially the Tax Codes) are meant for little people and conservatives - they don't count for elite liberals. They're above all that "law" crap.

The arrogance of conservatives never fails to amaze me. You can't even imagine Al Franken beating that republican slug Coleman. Why?

It's not like a democrat winning was some anamoly in the last election. Democrats beat republicans all over the place. Obama's coattails were long and strong. He won in places dems hadn't won in decades.

Too bad you conservatives don't believe in global warming. You're going to be frozen out of politics for generations.

The Demoncrats have a lot ridding on getting Al Freakin elected, legally or not. They feel DC needs one more useless, totally unqualified hack to fill their quota. BTW, Al's dad Bob, is one of CNN's in-house socialist reporters.

The law is the law. A Republican slug and a Democratic pusillanimous, parsimonious effete nabob agree that a certificate of election cannot be issued until Coleman's court case is resolved. What is so hard to understand about that? Should we type more slowly and use shorter words so that you can keep up?
