Football, Drag Queens and P.F. Changs

.
I know that the slow economy exists because it gets mentioned in EVERY news story. I've seen at least a half-dozen saying that ticket sales, airline costs and hotel prices are down at the Super Bowl, because the economy is down.
.
Economy down, of course, is code for Bush is gone, but keep the blame piled high.
.
But back to the Stupid Bowl coverage. I guess it never occurred to anyone that interest is down because of the teams involved? Pittsburgh? Phoenix? Not exactly power houses in the 21st Century.
.
But to make matters worse, the good folks from the 51st State, Mexico, aren't really in the swing of the seriousness of the event. At Media Day yesterday, Joel Bengoa, from Telemundo, showed up in drag and handed out chocolates to the players.
.
Imagine an American sportscaster, let's say Bob Costas or better still Johnny Bench and Joe Garagiola, showing up at a Mexico vs Argentina, World Cup Finals Match, dressed like Carmen Miranda.
.
There'd be rioting in all, but one, of the worlds nations and sanctions at the U.N.
.
I can't get ramped up over the game either, but I haven't switched to women's skivvies yet. Then again, the players evidently aren't psyched up either. After all, Pittsburgh? Phoenix? Do they care if they beat each other? Frankly, some of them would rather go out for faux Chinese food.
.
.
Schteveo will be watching Chowder Bowl on CN.

"Republicans on Wednesday defeated a bill"
How did that happen since the dems are the majority in the house?
But good for them! Who cares if "too many Americans won't be ready for next month's analog shut-off". They won't die!

What's the difference between a Pittburgh Steeler and a Catholic school boy?

Nothing. They're both going to get screwed by a Cardinal on Sunday!

Thank GOD the Super Bowl is on before the switch!!

According to Neilsen's numbers from September 2008, there were 114 million households. So that 6 million idiot households represents around 5%. That's the same 5% that come in 15 minutes late to a movie (then talk), run up and bang on a city bus as it pulls away (then talk on their cell phone at 200db), get to the doctors office AFTER you have been moved ahead because you were on time (then bitch loudly because they'll be late to ???), etc, etc, etc.

I say screw them!!

All they'll miss is 'merican Idle and Katie Cutiepie, no loss on either count. Let them go to P.F. Changs and watch TV at the bar.

You know I see commercials every day on every channel about the stupid switch. If someone is unprepared then they don't watch TV.

C-Bug,
I stand by my statement, the LOW interest level has to do with the teams involved. I can't help it if only the people from their hometowns (and a few others) are interested.

I didn't pick them.

The latest Lines on SB-XLIII: Steelers: -7 points or -225 moneyline. Cardinals: +7 points or +185 moneyline.

Well who else would you blame? Carter?

Bush was the President for the last 8 years, 6 of which had a republican Congress. Thus the economic crisis is their fault.

Not a hard concept people.

OT

Things that make ya go hmmm....

How can 2 million blacks get into Washington DC in sub zero temps in 1 day when 200,000 could not get out of New Orleans in 85 degree weather with 4 days notice?

Seeker -

Are ou kidding me? If that's true, then the following should add up too.

Obama was the President for the last 2 weeks, 3 of the last 4 weeks have had below average temps. Thus global warming is a myth.

I blame the lazy, ignorant assholes, who for the last two years did NOTHING to get their vouchers, spend their vouchers or who were so slack as to miss an attempt to get something FREE!!! This has been announced on every TV station 5 times a day for over a year, by FCC edict. Anyone who waited is just fucking beat!!! Why should the billions of dollars invested by the tv station owners, or the millions of dollars spent by citizens to upgrade on time, be held back because of that 5% that are always lagging because they're too damn slack to keep up?

Your single minded attempts to blame ANYONE but the slackards themselves for NOT taking something FREE are just the same tired old crap.
