Annie,
let me say from the get go that I am as open minded as anyone. I truly believe in free speech. I took an oath to protect free speech and will continue to do so. I think everyone should be afforded an open forum for their views.
However, I think the experiment with HLF has run it's course.
Whoever this person is, has no truth or objectivity in their comments. They are abusive and insulting. The constant attacks and snarking are too, too much. I believe that with free speech comes responsibility. This person shows no awareness of that being a necessity in society.
I did not post this openly on the blog, because I don't feel like hearing this boobs "opinion" of my asking for his / her being blocked from commenting.
Just one man's opinion.

There it is. I say let's vote on it. I'm suggesting that this person be ousted, the same way I'd ask management to pitch an abusive drunk jerk out of a bar or theater. But go look at the comments HLT made under the "Obama Victory" posting, below, before you decide.

Not everyone goes by the motto, if you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all.
Unfortunately, with free speech, we don't get to decide what other people say. We do get to decide if what is being said is worth listening to, a second thought, more of our consideration, or any action.
Civility in our society seems to be at an all time low, from both directions. I have started to try to be extra nice to people who are being rude. If the rudeness seems to be a way of life with a particular person, I'm nice, but I have as little to do with them as possible.
My vote is to allow the buzzing to continue, but I can choose to ignore the buzzing if I want.

I think he or she would be very embarassed at the things he or she has posted in my regard if it had ever had the luck to meet me.
I haven't met too many people in my lifetime that Ihaven't gotten along with very well, even raving liberals. I think HLF would be no exception, except for the fact that I might not be as warm to it as one might expect because of the ugly things it has said about me (wholly unprovoked, I might add, as I've never said a deprecating word to it except as response to ugliness it laid on first).
However, if it wants to keep making a fool of itself, then who are we to stop it?

I don't read his posts either. Neither does Tonto J. Bernstein, and at least one of the Anonymouses around here.
He's like dog shit in the park (and every bit as significant and intelligent). You just have to step over it and igore the smell. He kills a little patch of grass, but the rest of the lawn survives.
Having said that - if his posts get too stupid and insulting, I'm not above deleting them on a post-by-post basis. Just like deleting SPAM from my inbox.
As i've said before. The solution to this nitwit is simply to IGNOR him/her/it. Personally, i would vote to lock it out, but since most of you apparently feel it has some protected right to come here and insult us, let the majority decide.
It's obviously here to incite us, and by responding, no matter how intelligent or rational you may think your response is, you are just giving it more fuel. I've seen Annie and Goob giving these 3000 word responses and they were simply laughed at by the liberal nitwit. (assuming this "thing" is in fact a liberal, and not just some ball breaker)
You can argue all day with this liberal and you'll get nowhere. I'm somewhat surprised that a few of our "long-winded" responders still haven't figured that out yet, or perhaps they just like to type. Hey, if it makes you feel good, i'm for it! I think my feelings on the matter are pretty clear, but i'll go along with the majority.

This blog would be boring and worthless without differing opinions. HLF may be rude but he doesn't treat anybody any worse than I was treated by "regulars" when I first started posting.
