Man killed in break-in

Amarillo is in the news again. The Castle Doctrine should apply.

The owner of an Amarillo home that had been burglarized several times in the past few weeks shot an intruder Wednesday morning who then stumbled outside, fell and died in the front yard.

"If in fact, once Special Crimes has completed their investigation, and if they determine it was an event where the deceased had come on to the other person's property and evidence shows that they were attempting to commit a crime on their property, the Castle Doctrine will apply," Farren said.

Probably less dangerous than me - a 53 year-old homeowner with guns. I've had 31 more years to improve my aim and grow my anger.

And nowhere near as dangerous as a 22 year old liberal!

I heard a great story from some cops in a gun store in San Bernardino CA.

A guy runs into the store, grabs a pistol that the onwer has sitting on the counter (he was showing to an off duty police officer) and runs out the door. There were, apparently, several off duty officers in the store at the time.

The cops give chase and catch the guy in the parking lot. They have him on his back with 4 guns pointing at him when one the them says "let's take him inside and shoot him". They all agreed that they were in the clear since they had a weapon with his prints on it.

The big tough gang-banger starts blubbering and begging for his life. While they were dragging him into the store, he actually pissed himself.

They didn't shoot him, of course. I believe they slapped him around a little and let him go.

It may not be completely true, but its a great story.

I used to ride with a good friend of mine who was a police officer. One night after his shift we stopped at a beer joint not far from the sub station where he worked. There were 15 to 20 guys in there and most of them were cops. A fight broke out and one guy pulled out a knife. A second later there were about 15 guns pointed at him. Somebody hollered put it up son. The guy put the knife in his pocket and walked out. Nobody wanted to arrest him becuase the paperwork would have taken a couple of hours.
