I'm confused

for the last 8 years all we have heard from the democrats was how bad Bush's tax cuts are for the country

now President Elect Obama has decided that the light shinning from his rear end is a tax cut that Bush would be proud of

click my tax cut

we better shake that boys family tree, looks like there is a little bit of Reagan in Obama

As I've sais before, the higher one goes up the political ladder, the closer to the center one is forced. It's easy to talk about being out of Iraq immediately upon taking office. It's quite another thing to accomplish that objective. It's also fine to talk about banning offshore drilling, coal fired power plants and ending tax credits for "companies who ship jobs overseas." Again, more difficult to accomplish than discuss.

President Obama's cabinet will definitely contain some people that the hard left will not like such as Robert Gates and Timothy Geitner as well as Hillary Clinton who was booed at the Progressive Democrats Take Back America Conference a couple of years ago for her stand on the Iraq invasion and her votes to keep American troops there.

My prediction is that President Obama will be a friend of Wall Street because the political action committees at Glodman Sachs, Morgan Stanley, Citigroup and JP Morgan Chase contributed a total of $2,647,235 to his campaign. I also predict that he will be a friend of the nuclear power industry due to the $160,000 that the suits at Exelon Corporation donated to his campaign.

I would also hazard a guess that the progressives in President Obamaa's party will be dismayed at any discussion of tax cuts, be they for the ubiquitous "middle class" or the equally ubiquitious "small business." The only question to be answered at this point is the income level at which individuals will be disqualified from recieving the tax cut.

I'm all for tax cuts. Hell, stop taxing altogether. It will only hasten the destruction of this cesspool country and we can split it up.

All your kids will suffer. I don't have any.

Pres-elect BOHICA is up to his eyeballs in trouble. He promised the moon the sun and the stars to the Bush haters and now he's stuck for how to deliver.

Unfortunately we've been forced to vote for men who ran on promises that are "above the pay grade" of actual Presidential power. And that goes for all the parties who posted a candidate as far as I can see.

OT

I'm signed up for a CCH class in Feb.

(a Christmas present form my Mrs is she swell OR WHAT!?)

Currently I'm considering just what type pistol to buy. I need something light enough to carry, strong enough to make the point and economical enough to keep clean, loaded and well supplied with practice ammo for me and Mrs Schteveo.

Suggestions?

(oh, my SKS was a pawn shop second hand cheapo purchase, I don't drive a new car, so used pistols don't bother me either)

Steve,

I carry a Ruger LCP. In a pocket holster it fits fully in my bluejeans back pocket. Only possible issue is it's "only" 380.

I'm just now buying a Kel-tec PF-9 to be my primary carry. Cheap (< $300 on gunbroker.com), 9mm, small enough to fit in cargo pants pocket. I've been researching them and tho the early models had reliability problems, the later ones seem fine after a breakin period.

Here's one review of the pf-9...

You guys can keep all your fancy iron. I still carry my trusty Colt, 2", .38, 6 shot Detective Spl. loaded with jacketed hollowpoints. I bought it in 1969, (it's still in 96+% condition) and it has "proven itself" on several occasions over the years. If you can't get the job done with 6 rounds, give up!

As for the topic. Anyone who believes "anything" a politician tells them, "any" politician, deserves what they get!

Kel-Tec .380 P3AT...light, thin enough to conceal anywhere. Sprinfield XD .45 ACP for stopping power...13 in the mag and 1 in the pipe.

"Grammie" or whatever name he wants to call me!! said...

HLF doesn't have any kids because
1) She is a lesbian.
2) He is gay.

That's OK HLF. At least your legacy won't continue.

Look at the cover of the latest Guns and Ammo magazine.

Also, the LCP is OK cause Hornaday makes special hot little loads in .380 JHP. Watch for more.

Kel Tech in 9mm is nice too.

Hey HLF, care to help us decide which round (.380 vs 9mm)is better at capping Liberals?

Walther PPK is always a classic good choice but a bit difficult for a woman to work the action.

I can only find them in .380 although I know in the past they came in 9mm.

If you are so disenfranchised and disgusted with this country, then why are you still here? Just curious.

Small framed, possibly even snub-nosed, .38 special or even better, .357 magnum.

No user manual required. Load shells. Pull trigger.

A .38 plus P round outperforms 9mm and 40 s&W, gets up there with .45 ACP only a lot less punishing to shoot.

My .02

Oh, yeah... the OP.

I have suspected for quite some time that Obama won't be as bad as he sold himself. It would be political suicide for him to do so. Reference my congratulatory post just after his election.

My guess is that he will govern very centrist for the first four years. Any effort to go radical, or even somewhat strongly, left, will result in the American people pulling in the reigns in two years by electing a hostile congress to oppose him, and any effort after that will get him UN re-elected. After all, you can say one thing about the people, in general, and that is that the popular passion is very, very centrist (proof is in the fact that elections are all so close, and they go back and forth between repub and dem)

If he wins re-election, I believe that his administration will see it as a mandate, and will then let loose with the stupidity (similar to our most recent administration) which will result in the American people being very cross with him. To this day, I believe that second term presidencies are rarely beneficial to the people. I believe that Clinton got lucky by having the Monica-gate stupidity to hide some of the things he did in his second term. I believe that anyone unaware of some of his policies in his second term probably sees him as a good president, until they study some of the stuff he did after his re-election with new focus, without Monica Lewinsky standing in the way. Remember, he handed us a pretty bad recession on his way out, too, based on an economy that was built up on fake (dot com) just like this recent bust.

I don't think Obama's presidency will be as bad for me and my freedoms as Bush's was (can you say PATRIOT ACT?), so to that end, i am optimistic.

Now, as far as my pocket book...

I am glad to be rid of Bush. I don't think he handled much very well in his second term, and I think that his continued prescence would simply be too divisive. I do not, however, welcome Obama with open arms until he shows me that he truly cares about us bitter, religious people clinging to our guns.

Hear! Hear! The USAPA was the most patently offensive intrusion of the state into our personal lives since the Revolution and shredded what little we had left of our constitutional rights. It was a cowardly piece of legislative garbage that made me an unpaid police officer for the feds.

Gonzales v Raich and Kelo v City of New London took care of the remainder.

I think that sometime in the next eight years, you folks will be praying to get the Patriot Act back, especially when you see what it will be replaced by.

hey Steve,
i just received from my Grandfathers estate a Bayard 1908 .32. holds 5 rounds and is small enough to fit concealed in my hand. He brought it home from Germany after WWII. It shoots rather nicely even being so small.

Ooooh, murky etherealness. I'm scared. (just kidding).

Seriously, though, what, exactly are you getting at? It seems as though you have an idea, care to elaborate a bit?
