A self employed person making $375,000 per year will soon be paying 40% in taxes and another 16% in social security and medicare. 56% ! Not to mention sales tax, property tax, etc., PLUS they will lose their mortgage interest deduction on their home. About 65% of their income will be paid in taxes. 65% ! You also needed to add that your charitable giving will no longer be deductable - which will hurt a lot of churches, homeless shelters, private colleges, non-for-profit hospitals, etc. The Gov't will now decide who gets "charity" money - not you.

The only changes being proposed for charitable giving is reducing the deductability for the highest tax brackets. As it is now, they get a better deduction for making the same donation that someone in a lower bracket makes. That's not fair and will be changed.
