Christmas Eve Massacre Statement from Paul Helmke of the Brady Campaign

WASHINGTON, Dec. 26 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- In response to a man dressed in a Santa suit opening fire at a home in Colvino, California, shooting an eight-year-old girl in the face, her 16-year-old sister in the back, then killing eight others and himself, Paul Helmke, President of the Brady Campaign, issued the following statement:

"Our thoughts and prayers go out to the family and community touched by this terrible tragedy. It is profoundly sad that a distraught man would take up arms to kill his family and others. "In this season of hope, however, we should not despair and say this kind of violence is inevitable. We should not tolerate the steady drumbeat of gun deaths and injuries that tears our families and communities apart. We can and should do all that is within our power to find solutions to gun violence.

"In the New Year, we hope that our nation's leaders have the courage and conviction to take steps that will help protect our families and communities from gun violence."

These unscrupulous bastards are taking advantage of a tragedy for their own political gain and show their true colors by doing so. Paul Helmke and those involved with this press release are disgusting and useless parasites that feed off the blood of victims. As one person, I can do very little, but together we can try and let the rest of the public know what these scumbags are all about.

I've debated Paul Helmke on Fox News about 1 year ago and I thought he was a disingenuous and pretentious jerk then, but now I think much less. Let the people and media know how you feel if you feel anything like I do at this moment.

To paraphrase Archie Bunker said, "...would you feel better if they'd been pushed out a window?"

When will he call for a ban on fire?

Shouldn't they ban Santa Suits?

Using tragedy to one's political advantage has a gold standard:

Using 9/11 to start a very long and expensive war.

I have more.

Oh, my! Have you not heard? The Bush administration was directly responsible for the attacks. Why do you suppose that they took such great pains to get the Saudi royal family to London in the wake of the attacks on John McCain's lobbyist-buddy's 737?

Also, Salem bin Laden invested in Arbusto [GWB's first business venture] through James Bath, a crony of the Bush family in Houston.

And...

Dick Cheney is widely believed to be the Antichrist.

The first one I believe to be far left paranoia, the second might just be true!

Annie, my Sweet,
we're being played. I just don't buy that HLT isn't "funning" us.

Annie said...

I don't either, Stevie...

I still think HLF is Snorphty.

You're kidding, right? Didn't I just ask you to look me up when you're in town to get dinner? Would Snorpht be allowed in any eating establishment?

Do you think Snorpht can even eat with utensils?I picture him/her eating with their FEET!

Thank goodness I've been in upstate NY for the psat 3 days wherre there is more sanity than back in the city. Too bad we go back tomorrow where those misguided HLF'ers are clustered.

I don't disagree. I know you're not Snorphty. I was just teasing you. Jack and I shall look you up when next in Portland.

We can and should do all that is within our power to find solutions to gun violence.

Indeed we do. By getting more people to own guns.
