Taxing Livestock

I suppose many of you have seen this article that came out a few days ago, which discusses the EPA and their talk of taxing farmers and ranchers for greenhouse gas emitions from livestock. While it's not considered 'serious', the fact that they're even discussing it should raise red flags. Remember when things like homosexual 'marraige' were only 'talked about' and not taken seriously?

The jist of the article is taxation; which would work to end the private livestock industry in the United States. PETA's wettest dream.

"It would require farms or ranches with more than 25 dairy cows, 50 beef cattle or 200 hogs to pay an annual fee of about $175 for each dairy cow, $87.50 per head of beef cattle and $20 for each hog."

Just talk? You know how silly liberals are with your money - they consider it theirs: Talk today - law tomorrow. Liberals live to steal.

Of course, the extra taxes get passed along to us at the meat market. Maybe it's another devious liberal plan to get us to stop eating red meat?

Duh - ya think so?

this should effectively double the cost of meat. From my time working with 4H and FFA, I think I sold mine last one for a little over $450. I'm not sure what my parents are selling at now....but paying close to $100 in taxes per head....yeah, we'd be better off planting trees and then burning a billion gallons of diesel to pump the water out of the ground to water them.

would that count as an offset? planting trees in the desert?

My prediction is that the American public will not stand for the type of over regulation that will cause meat prices to rise during the worst ecomomy since the Great Depression. More and more people will begin to raise a few cows, pigs and chickens for their own use. Government will attempt to collect the levy and civil strife will follow. We now have a multitude of unemployed, dissatisfied, disaffected, angry and desperate people across the fruited plain and the worst ecomomic conditions in 70 years. All we now need for a revolution to occur is a charismatic individual to convince those multitudes that they have more to gain by following him and changing the status quo than they have to gain by preserving it.

Don't hold your breath! There is no one in govt. who believes the American people will revolt over this, or anything else! The only one's who pose that kind of problem are blacks, which is why the free cheese keeps flowing, and will increase.

The American people have been taken to a point where they'll tolerate any kind of abuse, so long as it's packaged right, and presented by the right person. One need only look at the outrageous actions of congress to prove my point.
