OK, I get it. If we are disarmed we are vulnerable.
But how is this kind of sensationalistic clap trap, ANY different than the daily assault from every quarter screaming, "...this cause must be your our TOP PRIORITY and you better do something NOW!!!"
And I'm not sure, but the job Hillary has been tapped for, does not give the power to sign away ANY of our rights, or that's my understanding anyway.

The letter does sound like a bit of hysteria to me, but i can understand what their aim is. I'm not so sure Hitlary can do anything about guns in her new job, but that leaves a whole lot of anti-gun Leftists in the administration who can, and will.
We all know how the Left works. They'll find a way to over-ride (via legislation perhaps) the recent SCOTUS 2nd Amendment decision, which wasn't all that strong. Or, they can simply wait for Yomama to stack the court with Leftists who will "rearrange" some of the words in the Constitution, then revisit the issue. And that will be that!

You all remember Sheriff Joe Arpaio of Arizona, who painted the jail cells pink and made the inmates wear pink prison garb.

Maricopa County was spending approx. $18 million dollars a year on stray animals, like cats and dogs. Sheriff Joe offered to take the department over, and the County Supervisors said okay.
The animal shelters are now all staffed and operated by prisoners.
They feed and care for the strays.
Every animal in his care is taken out and walked twice daily.
He now has prisoners who are experts in animal nutrition and behavior.
They give great classes for anyone who'd like to adopt an animal.
He has literally taken stray dogs off the street, given them to the care of prisoners, and had them place in dog shows.
The best part?
His budget for the entire department is now under $3 million.
Teresa and I adopted a Weimaraner from a Maricopa County shelter two years ago.
He was neutered, and current on all shots, in great health, and even had a microchip inserted the day we got him.
Cost us $78.
The prisoners get the benefit of about $0.28 an hour for working, but most would work for free, just to be out of their cells for the day.
Most of his budget is for utilities, building maintenance, etc.
He pays the prisoners out of the fees collected for adopted animals.
I have long wondered when the rest of the country would take a look at the way he runs the jail system, and copy some of his ideas.
He has a huge farm, donated to the county years ago, where inmates can work, and they grow most of their own fresh vegetables and food, doing all the work and harvesting by hand.
He has a pretty good sized hog farm, which provides meat, and fertilizer.
It fertilizes the Christmas tree nursery, where prisoners work, and you can buy a living Christmas tree for $6 - $8 for the Holidays, and plant it later.
We have six trees in our yard from the Prison.
Yup, he was reelected last year with 83% of the vote.
Now he's in trouble with the ACLU again.
He painted all his buses and vehicles with a mural, that has a special hotline phone number painted on it,
where you can call and report suspected illegal aliens.
Immigrations and Customs Enforcement wasn't doing enough in his eyes, so he had 40 deputies trained specifically
for enforcing immigration laws, started up his hotline, and bought 4 new buses just for hauling folks back to the border.

Hillary Clinton - Again, no power over the American people. She is the nations top diplomat, and I think that her only chance at gun-grabbing would be through the UN, as stated. THere is no way... NO WAY... that the american people will stand for us passing even a smidgen of our sovereignty over to a foreign power. Even if we did, what teeth would it have? Little UN police guys running around grabbing guns?
Daschle - Human Health. Yes, he could declare guns a "public health menace." And then what? Even in a dem congress, you don't have the juice to do anything about it. And two years from now, whhen people are tired of this Liberal power trip, they'll vote in some repubs for balance in the house and senate, and this will go away quietly.
Holder - Attorney General. THis is the only one that spooks me a bit. He could do some behind the scenes work in the supreme court to ensure that Heller goes no further than DC. He could also use the BATF as a club, as stated, and so this one I agree is a big issue. However, why the scare tactic bulshit?
And to the application, there was a lot of other wierd stuff on there, too. I would like an example of a person that was denied access to working for Obama as a result of their ownership of guns. My guess is that you won't find any.
As far as holding the line against these threats, people need to quit relying on the NRA to do for them, and do it themselves.
Write your congressman. Force them to speak up in your defense. The NRA is just spending your money on scare tactic publications.

Due to being the victim of a violent crime about 30 years ago, the details of which I shall not reveal, I have spent thousands of hours of the intervening time becoming extremely proficient at the gentle art of unarmed self defense. Let us face facts, however. I am 64 years old, not as fast, as strong or as quick as I once was. I also live in a very violent town in which most of the violent crimes except murder are not published in the paper. It's bad for business, you see. There were 1,017 reported instances of murder, forcible rape, armed robbery and aggravated assault in Las Vegas in 2007.
Examples of why I am frightened...
In the last 1-1/2 years:
1. A man returning from work at Midnight died in a shotgun attack at a stop sign by two guys who had been drinking brandy all day. Their reason for the murder? They wanted to know what it felt like to kill someone.
2. A woman with her three children in the car with her was shot dead at a red light for no apparent reason by a guy who pulled up beside her and fired a .380 pistol out his front passenger window at her. The shooter had his two-year old son and his girlfriend in the back seat of the car. His reason? ,"I was drunk."
3. And, on a personal note, Jack and I were leaving a restaurant after dinner when a drunken idiot accosted him for "looking like a fag," and swung an objest at him. [He had on a pale pink Izod shirt]. In the dark I thought the object was a knife. It was a kubotan. Neither of us were armed. I will not go into the gory details of the incident, but suffice it to say that the drunken fool who had the bad judgement to attack my husband will never, ever make that mistake again.
