Assuming Yomama means what he's saying, i agree that it's time to decriminalize pot. In fact, i think it's long overdo. I'm well aware of all the so-called experts who've said for years that pot is a "gateway" drug, meaning, it's use leads to using hard-core drugs. The only time i know this to be true is with people who have addictive personalities. These are weak-minded people who will get addicted to anything they use, be it soda, pop-corn, or Oreo cookies!
I also agree (in fact i know) that the so-called war on drugs has been a total failure. It failed because it was simply another war that was meant to be fought, but not won. It was designed to keep the people quiet, while earning Trillions of dollars for banks, insurance companies, large corporations who had massive amounts of money invested in South America, (drugs were the only way those countries could repay their loans) and certain "connected" individuals.
As usual, the price for this govt. supported charade has been, and will continue to be paid, by the American people, in many, many ways.
I really fail to see why the state has any interest in what substance I choose to put into my body. The rates of addiction to alcohol and other drugs have remained fairly constant over large populations and long periods of time. Generally, 10% of people who use a ophysiologically or psychologically addictive substance are going to become addicted to it.
Can you imagine what would have happened to the American banking industry, had we been successful in preventing all South American cocaine, Mexican marijuana and black tar heroin from entering the country? Welllll...just what has now occurred, but it would have happened a lot faster.
F-ing A right he should legalize it. And tax the shit out of it.
Current situation:
Billions are spent tracking down, busting, trying, convicting, and then imprisoning people for marijuana, which is no more harmful than cigarettes and alcohol.
New situation:
The billions being spent can be refocused on more harmful, ugly drugs being imported by ugly, harmful people, and we don't have prison systems clogged with folks that were just smoking a bit of doobie and hurting no-one. A new tax revenue is created in the process, which means that there is even more money to stop the flow of bad people and bad drugs into this country.
Where's the hard part here? How does this not make sense?
If all drugs including marijuana, cocaine, home-made methamphetamine, PCP, MDMA, LSD and herion were legalized it would remove the profit motive from the illegal black market and put the controlled substance brokers out of business. Also, it would solve the problem of falling state tax revenue.

plenty of Americans will apply for that job!!!!!!
they don't want to slow down the tax revenue

You're right Annie darlin. In fact, there wouldn't be any banks in southern Florida, as opposed to having one on every corner like they have now.
Uh....I forgot
