A Long Way From The Hood

BIG KAHUNA BAMAPKAILUA, Hawaii -
AP 12-21-08:

The Obama family, on vacation in Barack Obama's native Hawaii, is staying in a $9 million single-story oceanfront home in a pricey but laid-back neighborhood over the mountain from downtown Honolulu, where the president-elect grew up. The five-bedroom, wood-frame house sits on almost an acre of land fronting Kailua Beach, a favorite spot for windsurfers, kayakers and dogwalkers. The white sand in front of the house is public land, just like all beaches under state law. The Obamas may see neighbors out for a walk or jog. Martha Burke, who has lived several houses down from the property since 1972, said she is thrilled and honored to have Obama nearby. "I'm sure he wants a lot of privacy, so I hope we can restrain ourselves from waving at him. But I doubt it," Burke said, laughing. Don Dymond, owner of Kalapawai Cafe and Kalapawai Market, said it is particularly thrilling because Obama "knows enough about the state and the island that he would know if there's a better spot." He added, "The community is lucky that he picked here. And hopefully over the next eight years, he'll pick here some more." Obama's vacation home sits on a dead-end road with few other homes.

The house was built in 1934 and renovated in 2005. Photographs from a 2007 real-estate listing show a stone-encircled swimming pool and an open-air sitting room with views of a grassy lawn and the ocean. City tax records show a Houston man bought the property in January for $9 million. The home is listed on a vacation-rental directory, www.hawaiisbestrentals.com. It is among the most expensive on a block where shoreline lots go for a minimum of $3 million and nonbeachfront properties easily top $1 million. The figures outstrip the median single-family home price on Oahu, which stood at $594,500 in November.

What's your point? Are you jealous of the successful? Maybe if you work harder you can be President too!

He's working on his tan. It was starting to fade.

Just a man of the people? You can bet there are no government cheese eaters in that neighborhood.

After seeing what the MSM did to "Joe the plumber", simply for talking to McCain, how is it we're not being told who owns this house? Apparently, the "peoples right to know" is already being fazed out.

Right anon! Maybe we should start an investigation? If we can manage to investigate everything Obama does we might be able to stop him from governing!

We deserve to know ho owns that house. I'll bet it belongs to Bill Ayers or Blagojevich! OH MY GOD! We've got him now!

Somebody call Ken Starr!

well, since Obama is officially unemployed right now, i want to know who's paying the rent.
(president-elect does not have a salary)

could it be the $5 & $10 donations he pleaded for from the "common folk"?

From the LA TImes story:

Aides said the Obamas and their friends were expected to cover the costs of their stay in Hawaii.

Probably in exchange for some juicy legislation favorable to Bill Ayers, huh? Or maybe the rent money is coming from the people who know where the bodies are buried?!

I know! He's there having a fake birth certificate made to look like he wasn't born in Iran to terrorist muslim parents!

I MUST speak to Ken Starr!

could be just that.

"......the rental listing for the $9 million Hawaiian estate that President-elect Barack Obama is renting over the Christmas holiday. The five-bedroom estate rents for upwards of $3500-a-day and sits on an acre fronting Kailua Beach in Oahu."

the Chicago guys must be paying for it,,,,

all those $5 & $10 donations I raised from the poor folk are sure coming in handy......

Somebody ought to tell shopkeeper Dymond that presidents only serve 4 yrs., not 8. Why does everybody assume that Mr. Potatohead will be re-elected?

That's right. If it was Bush, the grand jury would already be hearing "evidence". And you're also right about his birth certificate. You know, the one that "no one" has seen yet. And while you're at it, you can dig up all his "alleged" academic credentials that no one in those institutions seems to know about!

Poor anon, claiming victimhood again! Those darned liberals get off easy and the poor, downtrodden cons get grand jury investigations!

How do you cope?

And that Obama and his fake academic credentials! Why, he probably got all Fs and only got to be the editor of the Harvard Law Review cause he's BLACK! And the University of Chicago made him a senior lecturer on par with a professor because he knew Bill AYERS the terrorist!

Do you people read what you write before you hit "publish your comment"?

I see that i am going to have to teach y'all how to do links in comments

click for srk's link

Creating links is too much trouble for an IQ of 151.

to HLF - the reason people speculate on Obama's place of birth & academic credentials is that HE WON'T RELEASE THE PAPERWORK!!!!

what is he afraid of?
he ran on a ticket of being open & accountable ---

again - WHAT IS HE AFRAID OF?????

oh I know the answer to that - THE TRUTH

"Creating links is too much trouble for an IQ of 151."

typical liberal

he thinks he is smart so he wants others to do his work for him while he collects govn't benefits

No, he didn't get F's, he got "AF's", as in Affirmative Action! And editor of the law review? How is it that he's the "only" one in history to hold that honor who "never" wrote a paper on anything? A Republican conspriacy? Obviously, you have a life-long supply of koolaid.

I forget that copy / paste is too difficult for you

Thanks, Bill and Blue...

The first link I tried took me to a CBS news site that carried a story about how atheism was invented by Jews to cause the downfall of the West.

The real story of the mom accused of smoking mara-joo-wana with her kids sounds exactly like something that would go on in rural Nevada. The only reason that we do not wrest the crown of the marijuana growing capital of the world from Humboldt County, California is that most of the state is a desert and it's really hard to grow dope [or anything else] here.

I was refering to srk's claim of an IQ of 151.

As for the academic achievments of Obama: Loser whites often are mystified by blacks who exceed them in achievment. They can't understand how that could happen and dismiss is as AF, favoritism or perhaps sunspots.

That's why working class whites are so resentful of successful minorities. It challenges their warped sense of entitlement.

I don't dispute Senator Obama's academic achievements. You don't make law review without something upstairs; just as you do not recieve an MBA from the Harvard B School [President Bush] without a modicum of intelligence.

That said, neither one of them can show me a doctorate equivalent to my own.

Oh, and...

My IQ is at least 45! Jack's IQ is much higher than mine. After all he married me didn't he?

He indulges me in what has become my obsession to post to this blog even though he thinks I'm wasting my time and very occasionally posts something extremely embarrassing such as referring to a "meat whistle," "a skin flute" or "the ol' pork sword" from time to time. I can't take him anywhere!

Annie honey, I don't doubt that you believe Obama to be intelligent and worthy.

You're a closet liberal who likes guns. :)

Annie said...

Actually, sweetie...

I'm an old civil libertarian from waaaaaayyyy back.

As for the guns part, I have always been fascinated by them. Some of the antique firearms I've seen are works of art. I saw a circa 1905 600 nitro express double rifle in a gun store in Austin, Texas. It had two gold triggers and the forestock was as intricately carved as anything I'd ever seen. It wasn't for sale.

I used to work at a crime lab and we had guns galore. Most we destroyed by throwing in a steel mill blast furnace but the interesting, valuable, historic pieces went into a mini-museum the police dept maintained.

You would have loved it.

The goobster is drooling. Oh, and even if it was for sale, Annie, you'd have to have "friends" in chicago politics in order to be able to afford it. A gun like that probably goes for 6 figures.

That being said, I'm wondering why the thinly veiled racism in the OP? "The Hood?" Seriously, guys, if you plan on ever hearing the end of accusations of racism, why not quit with this sort of stuff, simply because Obama's half black. I believe that there will be plenty to discuss about him that has nothing to do with his race. Focus on that.

That being said, I'm going to go to bed tonight with dreams of shooting a charging bull elephant with my intricately scrolled, golden-trigger 600 nitro express, right at the last minute, just before it gores some fair, blonde maiden in distress...

Ahhh, imagination.

Annie said...

Oh, no doubt!

I had the same dream, only it involved shooting a donkey
