Is there a point to this article?

.
Or, have I become so used to stilted journalism, that giving both sides of a story has me in shock?
.
Read this and see if I missed something.

I skimmed the article. So she is going public because she feels "entitled" to money?

Get to the back of the Gov't cheese line. I'm sure if you were a decent human being, you would have been in disneyworld and beyond. Go flip burgers and get a reality check. and call HLF and he'll get you all the gov't handouts available.

I didn't get that from the article at all. In fact she said,

"I will always be self-reliant," she says, curled up on her couch, her dreadlocks draping her body like a quilt. "Grandpa taught me that, and it has set the tone for my life."

I think the magazine people tried to turn this into what a bad guy Buffet is, but they fall far short, given that statement. If anything, I now wonder if their message is that his teaching her self-reliance is a bad thing?

I'm just stymied by this article.

lest see an adopted granddaughter that pissed off the money bags

hmmm, I want to say "how dumb can you be"
but since she lives in SF & wears hippy clothes at age 40, I think the question has been answered

"Human Interest" stories generally have a moral. I didn't seem to get one with this - other than what Cerulean alluded to... "Don't piss-off stingy old money-bags."

Blue,
how about 50's and dress like a hippy?

I remember times when $40K a year was just a fantasy! She's just another Berserkly, Mexifornia hippy looking for a hand out. She's hoping for a steady stream of cash from grandpa so she can keep her friends high. In this case, gramps is right. Get off your ass, get a haircut, and get a job!

you aren't the adopted grandchild of the 2nd richest man in the world - so who cares about you

Schteveo said...

...well, OBVIOUSLY no one.

Wait HLF does, 'cause HLF loves everyone, and thinks we should all hold hands and channel our Spirit Guides, to increase our love of mankind.

Steve:

Your hippy clothes are undoubtedly original- in your closet for 40 years, not "retro" from a second hand store from latter day hippie wannabees.

I got from the "tone" of the article, that the fact the article was even written, and approved by the grand daughter, that there is that money issue. Why else even write the article and have it public?

Bill,
that's my original question. This thing is so openly informational and even handed, that it's like a news story from 30 years ago.

They could have really written this to make Buffet look bad, but they didn't. They went out of their way to say that Buffet is a frugal guy.

It's crazy.

Shoot, she makes more than I do, from home, doing what she loves. I'd say she's got it alright.
